Eco has no server. There is nowhere for us to keep your data, because we never receive it. Everything below follows from that one fact.
What Eco stores, and where
What you record — amounts, categories, notes, bills, goals, debts and savings — is written to a database on your iPhone. It is covered by the iPhone's own encryption whenever the device is locked.
If you switch iCloud backup on, a copy of that same data is written to your own iCloud, in a private container tied to your Apple Account. Apple stores it; Apple does not read it as part of your app data, and neither do we. Nobody who makes Eco has any way to reach it.
What Eco never does
- No account, no sign-up, no email address, no password.
- No analytics, no crash reporting service, no advertising, no tracking of any kind.
- No third-party SDKs. The app talks to nothing but Apple's own frameworks.
- No connection to your bank, and no request for a card number or a banking login.
- Nothing is sold, shared or sent anywhere, because nothing arrives anywhere to sell.
Eco requests no tracking permission and shows no tracking prompt, because there is nothing to track.
Apple services Eco uses
- iCloud (CloudKit). Only if you switch backup on, and only into your own private container. Switching it off stops the copying; deleting the backup from inside Eco removes it.
- Siri and Shortcuts. If you use them, what you say is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. Eco receives only the finished request, such as an amount and a category.
- Apple Intelligence. Where your iPhone supports it, category suggestions and written summaries are produced by a model that runs on the device. The text never leaves it.
- Notifications. Reminders are scheduled on the device by the device. No push server is involved and none exists.
- In-app purchases. Eco Premium is billed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles the payment and tells Eco one thing: whether the subscription is active. Eco never sees your card, your name or your address.
Children
Eco is not aimed at children and collects nothing from anyone, of any age.
Your data is yours
- Take it out. Settings → Data → Export CSV writes a spreadsheet of everything.
- Delete it. Settings → Data → Erase all data on this phone. This is never behind a subscription.
- Delete the backup. Settings → iCloud backup → Delete the backup.
- Delete all of it. Removing the app takes the on-device database with it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Anything that would alter what leaves your phone would be said in the app, not only here.
